Dr. Susan K. Bennett, MD, FACC is Clinical Director of the George Washington University Hospital Women's Heart Program in Washington, DC. Dr. Bennett is also a medical advisor for WomenHeart: The National Coalition for Women with Heart Disease, and serves as medical spokesperson for the Heart Truth Campaign.

Dr. Karol E. Watson, MD, PhD, FACC
Dr. Karol E. Watson, MD, PhD, FACC Karol E. Watson, MD, PhD, is board certified in the fields of Internal Medicine and Cardiology.  She currently practices as a cardiologist at the Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. Dr. Watson is director of the Women’s Cardiovascular Center at UCLA, Co-Director of the UCLA Program in Preventative Cardiology, and director for the Center for Cholesterol and Hypertension Management. She is an Associate Professor of Medicine in UCLA’s Division of Cardiology and a member of the Executive Committee for the UCLA Fellowship Program in Cardiovascular Diseases.
Merle Myerson, MD, EdD, FACC, Director of Cardiovascular Disease Prevention Program

Dr. Myerson graduated from Columbia University, Barnard College. She received her medical degree from the State University of New York and completed her internal medicine residency from Duke University Medical Center. She subsequently completed a clinical fellowship in Cardiology from Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons. Dr. Myerson also holds a doctorate in Applied Physiology from Columbia University and post-doctoral work in preventive cardiology and epidemiology and in basic lipid research. She is board-certified in both internal medicine and cardiovascular disease.

She joined St. Luke's-Roosevelt in 2005 and also has an appointment in the Department of Epidemiology at the Mailman School of Public Health of Columbia University. Prior to coming to the Hospital she was a Medical Officer at the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute at the National Institutes of Health. She is actively involved in research for the prevention of cardiovascular disease.

Dr. Kathy Magliato, MD, MBA, FACS
Dr. Magliato is one of the few female cardiothoracic surgeons in the world. She is currently the Director of Women’s Cardiac Services at Saint John’s Medical Center in Santa Monica, California, where she is developing a Multidisciplinary Women’s Health Center to address the cardiac needs of female patients. Dr. Magliato is also developing a Ventricular Assist Device Program to treat end-stage heart failure patients. Prior to joining Saint John’s Medical Center, Dr. Magliato was a heart/lung transplant surgeon and Director of the Mechanical Assist Device Program at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.
Dr. Icilma Fergus
Dr. Icilma Fergus is Head of Cardiology at the Harlem Hospital Center. Her current academic appointment is Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine at Columbia University Medical Center in New York, New York and Assistant Professor of Weill/Cornell Medical Center, New York. Dr. Fergus is board certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiology. She has served on several committees at her prior institution and now at Harlem Hospital center, she serves on the P&T committee and HHC Hypertension and Diabetes guidelines committee.

She has authored or coauthored numerous articles on various topics related to heart disease and congestive heart failure in peer-reviewed journals. She is co-author of a chapter about cardiovascular imaging in “Cardiovascular Disease in Ethnic Minorities” published by Elsevier in December 2008. Her current research interests involve Hypertension and Diastolic Dysfunction and the associated co-morbidities, LV dysynchrony and heart disease in women. Dr. Fergus is an active member of many professional memberships, including the American Society of Hypertension, American Society of Echocardiography, and the American College of Cardiology. In addition, Dr. Fergus sits on the board of directors for the Association of Black Cardiologists serves as secretary on the Executive Board and Chair for Community Programs. She is also a member of the Harlem Healthy Eating Healthy Living Committee.
