Understanding---Awareness---Action
Currently in America, we are losing a woman about every 38 seconds to heart disease, in part because many women cannot get screened.
Worldwide, 8 million women are currently dying of heart disease.
Evidence shows that when women know their risks and take the proper actions, heart disease is 80% PREVENTABLE.
EOH’s focus for the 2010 initiative, “The Million Women’s Heart Project” is to convey the urgency that all women need to be screened for heart disease. Through this campaign we will also highlight the roles that stress, high blood pressure, obesity, and lifestyle choices make in every woman’s health.
During this project Events of the Heart will work to:
Get 1 million women’s hearts tested
Message to one million women about Heart Health
Collect the stories about what’s at the heart of their lives
Reveal the data upon the completion of the campaign
EOH wants a long term relationship with the women we test and educate and a key part of our program is collecting data and contact information for all program participants for future health messaging and on-going interaction and communication with the project participants
The Million Women’s Heart Project will launch on November 11, 2010 in NYC at the Donna Karan/Urban Zen Foundation. The landmark Million Women’s Heart Summit attendees will be representatives from all major heart organizations as well as the influential leaders from business sectors including technology, medicine, beauty/fashion, finance, and education. With this action we are partnering with US WELLNESS a nationwide organization who offers women free cardiac screenings to promote early detection and who is committing to supporting this campaign.
These actions will create a “pay it forward” by women, to not only get themselves checked, but spread the word to the women in their lives to do the same. |
